“I was blessed with two wonderful grandmothers; Yiayia Georgia and Yiayia Eleni. Inspired by these women, their epic lives and the incredible change they had to endured in their lifetime, I became obsessed with collecting stories like theirs. To sing the stunning songs that furnish their stories has awakened a passion for Greek music in me that I had no idea I had, giving these women voice has been an honour.”

After a couple of decades working as a performer and being an adult consumer of the Arts, I’ve noticed that fewer and fewer stories and characters resonate with me and worse, many even alienate or marginalise. I don’t see my experiences as a woman valued and reflected in our current artistic climate. This is because we, as a society, haven’t learnt how to regard the female voice in storytelling.
I hope, through AWE, we begin to challenge the position of the male narrative as the high-water mark against which everything else is measured.
A result-oriented senior marketing leader with over 20 years experience in consumer products and consultation industries. Driven by strong curiosity, I'm a fast-learner and love new challenges. My years of being a practitioner across all marketing practices have given me the edge to think creatively and holistically. My multi-lingual skill is an added advantage that allows me to understand and advise on different country markets under their perspective cultural contexts.
Having spent the majority of her acting career representing the minority on Australian screens and stages, Fiona is proud to be shining a light on female-driven works as part of AWE. She believes in the power of storytelling: that the sharing of perspective, imagination, pain and laughter is how we as humanity can unite, be inspired and heal.
In order for that to happen, all voices must be represented and be given access and opportunity. Plus it’s just plain exciting to see what intelligent, creative and passionate women can make!
